The current transient/dynamic rating module in ELEK has limited capability for long-term thermal analysis.
What is requested:
- Temperature profile visualization: Display temperature over time (conductor and surrounding media) during transient/dynamic rating calculations
- Extended duration support: Enable analysis over longer time periods (currently limited; extend to support durations up to ~1 year)
- Soil diffusivity parameter: Allow users to define or adjust soil thermal diffusivity as an input rather than relying on fixed assumptions (e.g., based on soil type or measured values)
Why this matters:
- Transparency: Temperature profiles help users understand thermal behavior and validate results
- Accuracy: Soil properties vary by location and moisture content; permitting diffusivity input improves calculation accuracy for site-specific conditions
