ELEK currently lacks guidance/examples for cables buried at significant depths (>5–10 m), which fall outside standard IEC 60287 assumptions and require alternative methodologies.
What is requested:
- Guidance document or worked example demonstrating the calculation approach for deeply buried cables (referencing IEC 60853-2 methodology or alternative recommedned methodlogy developed by ELEK)
- Optional: Feature to flag or handle deep burial scenarios with appropriate derating/adjustment factors
- Reference to validation methods as outlined in industry best practices (e.g., Cableizer and Groft's approach to deeply buried object verification)
Why this matters:
Deep cable installations occur in challenging topographies and industrial sites. Current ELEK workflows do not provide clear direction on method selection or validation for these scenarios.
