Non-isothermal ground surface modelling for IEC buried or in backfill installations
Non-isothermal ground surface modelling may be necessary where cables are buried relatively closely to the grounds surface. The IEC standard assumes that the ground surface is isothermal which often yields optimistic current rating results.
